Using Youth Participatory Action Research to Scale Up Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV in the Southeastern United States

Black and Latiné LGBTQ+ youth are disproportionately affected by HIV.

We believe their voice is the answer to ending the epidemic.

The three aims of the project are:

#1

Examine HIV/PrEP knowledge and barriers for Black and Latiné LGBTQ+ youth’s engagement in HIV prevention interventions in South Carolina (SC).

#2

Develop a set of recommendations on how community-based organizations and healthcare clinics can better engage youth in HIV prevention across SC.

#3

Disseminate findings with key community leaders and organizations across SC and develop an action plan to engage Black and Latiné LGBTQ+ youth in HIV prevention in the state.
