Lab Director

  • Dr. Sayward Harrison

    Dr. Harrison (she/her) is a health psychologist who studies psychosocial, behavioral, and structural factors that impact health and mental health. Her research focuses on improving outcomes for HIV, STIs, and Substance Use Disorder in the southern United States. Dr. Harrison practiced as a psychologist for six years in medical, school, and community settings and then completed a postdoctoral research fellowship on the global HIV epidemic. Now, as an Associate Professor of Psychology, she leads two primary research lines. First, she develops, implements, and evaluates psychosocial interventions for people living with or at-risk for HIV. Second, as Director of the Integrated Care for Recovery (I-CaRe) Center, she works with diverse community partners to reduce harm associated with the Opioid Crisis and to provide support for people impacted by Substance Use Disorder.
