Reducing Transportation Barriers for People Living with HIV in South Carolina through a Concierge Rideshare Intervention
(ViiV Healthcare; PI: Dr. Divya Ahuja – USC School of Medicine; Co-PI: Dr. Harrison)
This study is funded by ViiV Healthcare and is designed to improve engagement in care and rates of viral suppression for people living with HIV (PLHIV) in South Carolina by addressing transportation barriers. The three aims are:
-
#1
To evaluate whether providing free Lyft rides for PLHIV improves their engagement in care (i.e., attending clinic and lab visits) and helps them achieve viral suppression at higher rates than patients assigned to a standard transportation condition
-
#2
To evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, and usability of concierge Lyft services to overcome transportation barriers for HIV patients who are re-engaging in care
-
#3
To learn about the lived transportation experiences of HIV patients by recruiting up to 25 participants currently enrolled in the study to participate in individual, semi-structured confidential interviews in which participants will provide information about their transportation experiences and their opinions/insights about effective transportation interventions for people living with HIV
